I saved my favorite area of Old Westbury Gardens for the final part in my photographic tour, The Walled Garden. After a stroll along The Lilac Walk — which smells amazing by the way — continue down the path to the steps that lead to The Walled Garden. Before you step foot inside you are met by a beautiful iron gate that marks the entrance to the brick walls that surround the garden. Stepping inside The Walled Garden, I honestly never wanted to leave. You are surrounded by a magnificent landscape of trees and shrubs, an assortment of flowers and plants some of what is in bloom for the time of your visit (when I went it was tulips and peonies), a lotus pond, a fountain and gorgeous architecture. The Walled Garden is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I have encountered.
This concludes my spring tour of Old Westbury Gardens. I’m planning on a return visit to the gardens in the summer when the dahlias are in bloom so I can capture them. Part one of my tour can be found here, part two can be found here and part three can be found here. More photos from can be found on my Flickr.
