With an extra long weekend thanks to some days off from work and absolute perfect fall temperatures yesterday, I paid a visit to one of my favorite places, Old Westbury Gardens in Old Westbury, NY. On yesterday’s visit I discovered that my new favorite time to visit Old Westbury Gardens is now fall. The walled garden was in full bloom with dahlias, zinnias, mums and so many more fall flowers, looking as beautiful as it does in the summer if not better. In October, Old Westbury Gardens hosts Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns on weekend nights and while the pathways to all of the pumpkin displays are closed during the daytime you can sneak a few peeks at the pumpkins while walking around the garden.
No matter how many times I visit Old Westbury Gardens I always take more photos than I anticipate. It is such a beautiful place it is so hard to not keep snapping away. Here are photos of Westbury House, the 23 room former mansion of the Phipps family built in 1906.
I’ll be sharing more photos of the Rose Garden and Walled Garden at Old Westbury Gardens in upcoming posts.
