A fresh start to the new year

With 2015 behind us and 2016 here it is time for new year’s resolutions. Last year, I listed my resolutions on here thinking it would help me follow through on them more, but I’m sad to say I didn’t. I’m giving it another try though because 2015 brought along some good changes for me especially career-wise and there are positive changes I would like to make in 2016.

2016_exploreExplore more was one of my resolutions for 2015 and sadly, I didn’t carry it out as much as I wanted to. The growing list of gardens, nature trails, beaches and more that I want to visit well I’m going to try for it again in 2016.

2016_photographMy resolutions tie into each other in a way and explore and photograph more go hand in hand. One of my favorite things to do is explore with my camera, so if I’m not exploring as much I’m also not photographing as much. Not that I didn’t take thousands of pictures of flowers this year and spend days photographing Old Westbury Gardens but now that I’m photographing more for my job I want to step up the time that I spend photographing for myself.

2016_careIn order to be in the best position to carry out your resolutions, you have to take care of yourself first which is where care more comes into play. My mantra for 2016 is “If not now, when?” No more saying I will do this when or this is some place I’d like to go to, it is time to start doing. It is also time to start taking better care of myself physically something I started doing at the end of 2015 with boxing training at my job. Before signing up for it I started saying I’d like to do this at some point and then I was like why am I not doing this now and that one hour training session each week lead to me actually using the gym at work on a regular basis. I’m putting myself first in my own head which I tend not to do but I need to start doing, because if I don’t do it now, than when will I do it?

Happy New Year, here’s to making 2016 an amazing year!

  1. Very nice! There’s no rule that says you can’t continue resolutions another year! Good for you, and boxing sounds like fantastic cardio. Here’s to a healthier, wiser you in 2016!
