Life Lately

As one of my favorite season approaches, I figured it was a rather fitting time to return to blogging. The past few months of my life have been a little hectic and as things have finally wound down, I can shift my focus back to here.

In the past few months, I’ve moved both personally and for work and built a brand new website for my job, on top of doing all my day to day work, so free time was very limited. I haven’t touched my camera aside from some photos for work and with spring approaching and the weather slowly shifting warmer, I’ve been itching to getting out and exploring. Plus, I have many blank walls in my new apartment that are in need of some photos!

Decorating an apartment, is much harder than I thought it would be! After a very, very long search period, much longer than I thought it would be, I finally found an apartment in a town I honestly never thought I would live in. For a few years, I had been concentrating my search area closer to my job, which unfortunately was at a much higher price point than I really wanted to spend on monthly rent. With each apartment I would look at, I felt so defeated that I could only afford a studio that you could barely turn around in, so I decided since with the hours I work at my job, my 45 minute commute wasn’t that bad and changed my focus to towns not far from home. Within a month of expanding my search, I found a place 10 minutes from where I grew up. There were a few bumps along the way with a snowstorm cancelling my furniture delivery and some other issues, but next week is two months since I’ve moved in and while my walls may be blank still, I’m loving it so far. I’m close enough to visit my parents after work and my sister lives in the same town a few minutes away, so I get to visit my three month old niece and nephew as often as I wish.

I’ve been trying to do a lot of reading lately and will get around to a proper book review post, but wanted to talk about a book that just came out, Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I was lucky to receive an advance reader copy of the book from Netgalley back in the fall, and I loved the book so much. I’ve been a fan of Reid since I read and loved Maybe in Another Life, a few years ago and was very intrigued by the premise of Daisy Jones & The Six. One of my all-time favorite bands is Fleetwood Mac and in this book, I saw so many similarities to their history. The book is told in such a unique format, you feel like you are reading a VH1 Behind the Music special of a fictional band, but it will definitely pull you in to their journey of sex, drugs and rock and roll. The book is being turned into an Amazon TV series, and I cannot wait to see this book come to life. If you are looking for an interesting, can’t put down book, add this to your to be read list, you won’t be disappointed!
